The Audio Production course aims to unlock the secrets of audio engineering & production as well as all the components associated with recorded music.
ABOUT THE COURSE
Whether you are a novice music producer, sound engineer, band member or instrumentalist who wants to be able to record music for clients or as a hobby - this course covers the essential fundamentals of audio engineering & production that are needed to produce professional recorded music of international quality.
The Audio Production Course teaches you the most important principles of recording music covering topics such as microphones, recording techniques, instrument recording and mixing & mastering enabling students to create professional recorded music in various genres.
With the focus being hardware & software handling, equipment & instrument theory, recording in practice as well as the processing of recorded material, this course empowers students to achieve quality recordings and productions without the need for a professional studio environment.
During this course students will have the opportunity not only to record a variety of instruments as well as vocals but also to record a selection of bands playing various genres such as Rock, Jazz, Punk, Metal, Reggae etc.
PLEASE NOTE: In combination with the other 5-month "Electronic Music Production Master Course" this course can be studied as equal to the NQF4 National Certficate "Digital Music Production course ". Please contact us for more information.

Achieve full control over all your track placements within the stereo field, in terms of panning as well as depth.

More and more record companies and labels make use of ordinary home production studios (outsourcing) due to it being more cost effective and so doing creating many opportunities for project studios.

CLASSES
Classes consist of two 3 hour sessions (theoretical and practical), once a week (Fridays 09:30 – 12:30 and 13:30 – 16:30) as well as unscheduled practical sessions during the rest of the week. (Practical work can also be done at home)
Classes consist of 16 dedicated DAW workstations as well as group and individual studio sessions.
STARTING DATE
This 5 month course runs twice a year: Feb / July. Please contact EMENDY College reception to find out the exact starting date for the next course. Registration ends on the day the course starts.
The total duration of the course is 21 theoretical sessions (6 hours) and unscheduled practical hours for assignments and practical projects over a period of 5 months.
PRE REQUESITES AND REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICATION
The requirements for this course are:

Grade 10;

Computer literacy.

SOFTWARE & HARDWARE
The course is mainly based on Cubase 4 (Music production software), as well as other industry standard music recording software, VST’s and hardware.
Once enrolled, a STUDENT automatically qualifies for student discount on all software and hardware at ORANGE Music retail shop for up to 50%. This one time opportunity only applies for registered students for the duration of their studies.
CERTIFICATION & ACCREDITATION:
Upon completion of this course, students will receive a certificate accredited by "Steinberg", one of the leading institutes in music technology education and software.
